Backing Up Accident Causes Death of Child l Seattle Injury Attorney

KOMO 4 News reports that a 5-year-old child was killed when the child’s father was backing his vehicle out of the driveway in Newcastle.  The child apparently ran to the rear of the vehicle without the father’s knowledge. Unfortunately, “backing up” accidents become more common as the weather gets nicer and more children start to play outside.  Every parent should double-check the rear of his/her vehicle before exiting the driveway.  Every child should be accounted … Continue reading

More Pedestrian Car Accidents This Time of Year l Seattle Injury Attorney

This is the time of year in Washington State that Davis Law Group begins to see more pedestrian auto accident cases.  Just in the last few weeks we have signed up 4 of these cases. They all involved pedestrians walking across the street and then being hit by a car. Why do we see more of these cases starting this time of year?  I have to believe that in April/May when the weather gets warmer … Continue reading

Seattle Police Trying to Reduce Car-Pedestrian Accidents l Seattle Injury Attorney

The Seattle Times has reported that the Seattle Police Department will be performing “sting” operations to catch drivers who don’t stop for pedestrians.  The SPD will be using “pedestrian decoys” who approach or use marked cross-walks and then monitor drivers’ responses. The SPD expects to perform at least 10 sting operations in 2009. I previously wrote about the higher car-pedestrian accident cases seen in Seattle. According to statistics, at least 468 car-pedestrian collisions were reported … Continue reading

March 9, 2009 MSNBC reports that there have been a rash of pedestrian accidents in Snohomish County over the last few weeks.  Since mid-February, at least five (5) teenagers have been hit by trucks or cars while walking along Snohomish County roads. “I’m not even sure why this is happening,” says Kristen Thortenson, a spokesperson for the Marysville Fire District and Snohomish County SafeKIDS. “Kids are paying less attention, and so are drivers.” Although none … Continue reading

Pedestrian Fatality Accident Statistics l Seattle Accident Attorney

My friend and Florida personal injury attorney, Jim Dodson, recently blogged about pedestrian fatal accidents.  Mr. Dodson cites the pedestrian fatal accident statistics for 2007, as compiled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  The NHTSA reports that there were 4,654 pedestrian fatalities in 2007 alone.  There were also statistics reported concerning the location and conditions at the time of the traffic accidents. Most happened in good weather, and during the night. As Mr. Dodson points out, the … Continue reading
