A South Carolina newspaper has reported that a woman was attacked and mauled to death by two rottweiler dogs.  The dogs apparently had escaped from their owner’s yard before and occasionally roamed the neighborhood.  The dogs’ owner even tried to protect the woman, identified as Sirlinda Hayes, age 66.  But the dogs then turned on their owner and viciously attacked him as well.  The owner has been hospitalized for several days. Another dog attack on a child was reported by KOMO 4 News.  The baby, just 9 months old, was apparently left exposed to her grandmother’s dog.  The child received vicious injuries which were considered life-threatening according to reports by Children’s Hospital (where the baby was flown for emergency treatment). Boy Attacked by Dog in Finley, WA l Seattle Dog Bite Book

The authorities in Finley, Washington reported that a 9-year-old boy was viciously attacked by a neighbor’s dog while walking home.  The boy’s mother, Shanda Reed, reports that the dog was a border collie mix.  The wound was to the boy’s face, and was quite serious.  The Benton County Sheriff’s office states that the boy is lucky to be alive given the severity of the bite wound, which required at least 20 stitches. The owner of a dangerous dog, Travis Dean Cunningham, 36, recently pled guilty to owing two dangerous dogs and possessing a firearm in a separate case.
